I have a 99' Chevy truck that leaks power steering fluid. I dump it in, goes right through. Looking for an estimated amount, so when I take it to the shop, I'll know what to expect. Is it something I can fix on my own? Any info will help.

Try a "stop leak" type product for Power Steering first. This can fix many leaks, The cost of repair would vary greatly on whether it's a worn-out gasket, a crack in the holding tank or a bad hose.

Depending on your being able to find the problem and your comfort on working on your vehicle, it can usually be done yourself at no great expense.

Your largest cost at a shop would be the labor for this.

costly?- it relies upon on what area of the equipment leaks. The pump could be leaking- it is going to could get replaced. it fairly is a extreme rigidity hose- those are costly. If it fairly is not any extra desirable than $4 hundred yuo're very fortunate. in case you're able to do the artwork your self, clean each thing up, so which you have of undertaking looking out what enormously leaks- then replace that.

There are epoxys that can patch holes really well. I burst a hole in my radiator four wheeling a few years ago. I came down nose first and popped a nickel size gash in the bottom.

I sanded it and pasted it on with a tounge depresser and it hasnt leaked in years.

it depends on where its leaking at.if its the pump, just get another pump from the junk yard and put it on yourself.if its a hose, get a new pressure hose(or return hose)and install it yourself.these garages will take advantage of you.they try to get all the money they can from you and then you wont know if its fixed right or not, when you get it back.try finding a pump and get a neighbor or someone to put it on for you.
