I think it's sweet. What's wrong with parents showing interest in their children? I think young kids are sweet anyway so I love hearing stories about them.

Most people don't want to hear stories about other peoples kids.
Most people don't care about anything but things that pertain to them. Plus they can be annoying

They're supposed to be having a conversation, not "showing interest in their children". When I speak with another adult, the last thing I want to talk or hear about is kid-related issues. I have kids. I know what they're like. I want to hear the person talk about something else.

I don't think it really has to do with kids, but the passion parents have for their kids. A lot of people have things they are extremely passionate about that most people won't find nearly as interesting. And the sad thing is when someone talks about something they are extremely passionate about to someone who doesn't care nearly as much about it. that other person will find it boring or annoying when the other person won't stop talking about it. It's not just kids, it can be anything someone is passionate about. I.E. my girlfriend and I love our new puppy, and we talk about her all the time..but im sure our friends eventually don't want to hear about our puppy anymore...my brother loves books and arts, I could care less and he wont't stop talking to me about it..but it's his passion. It's not so much the subject (for most cases..unless the person really dislikes children, dogs, books, etc.)..but the passion that the person doesn't share for it.

Because all parents think their kids are the first ones to ever say or do something funny or smart or clever. Sometimes it is cute but gushing about little johnny or little susie as if your children don't even exist gets a little annoying

Because it isn't their kid Therefore not interesting. When people talk about ther kids it is annoying and boring

I love to talk about my kids, and I love to hear other people talk about their kids. The only problem I have with people talking about their kids is when they are trying to make my kids look bad.

Probably because it's the 1,000 th time they've heard the same story over and over again. I love a cute kid story as much as anything, but over telling is very tedious for the listener.

Its ok to talk about them a little bit but, some people really brag about their kids and it gets annoying
