Or you could also say, "Why must Italians study English in school, and Americans do not have to study Italian?"

With America being the world's major power, we have basically forced the rest of the world to accommodate our language. Most likely it is a cultural thing. We as Americans are usually biased toward our culture, and even though it is not fair for the rest of the world, that is just the way it is. We don't even use the metric system!

Because Americans are egocentric. I am an American so I can say this with certainty. We think that everyone in the world should speak English. Spanish is starting to become a common language that almost all americans study in school. I guess the Italian school system thinks that learning english is important. I took Italian in school and never took any other language.

In junior high school I took Italian classes for all three years. I had a choice between Italian, French and Spanish and being of Italian heritage I naturally chose that language.

Personally, I think a second language should be taught to Americans starting in kindergarten. We need to catch up to Europe and the rest of the world in that department.

Hi. If you want sentence correction, here it is: Why do the Italians have to study English in school and Americans don't have to study Italian?

If you want an answer to your question, then it's because English is the #1 language in the world. This is whow people of different cultures and nationalities communicate. It is also the language of businesspeople. Hope this helped!

your question should read "why must Italians study English in school, and Americans are not required to study Italian in school?"

And the Answer is Economics....English is the second (or third) most used language on earth, it is used in most industrialized nations, International trade was run mainly by english speaking countries, so to do business with them and to compete in business it is necessary to conform to minimize the language barrier.
