My music teacher took me, two other class mates and my brother to the symphony forty three years ago when I was about 10. Thank you Mrs. Martin. I love you for that to this day! I'm 53 now...

I always pull over and help people with their car when it breaks down, about once per week. Back in Chicago when I was an apartment rental agent and I found this kid an apartment, he tried to pay the deposit/first month's rent with a credit card which we didn't accept. He had about half of what he needed, $300 or so. I put in the other $400 from my own money and told him to mail a check made out to me personally when he got home in downstate Illinois. I got the check about 4 days later. He was really surprised that a stranger would do that for him.....No IOU's or anything.

Oh, yeah, I have a 15 year old kid living in my extra bedroom here in Mexico. His stepfather beat him and tossed him into the street when he found out that he was gay. In addition his stepfather wouldn't pay for his education, hence he is illiterate having only a 3rd grade education. He's in school now...I'm paying.

Don't you think that giving is a way of life? I do.

The extremely affluent parents of a former student of mine offered to throw him an extravagant birthday bash. He chose to spend his birthday and the money for it by throwing a simple program and party at a home for homeless children. He and his friends also vounteered to be "big brothers" to the children and donated things to the home. That was very heart warming.
