xps m140 here, mate
no m1210 at the time i got it sometime in april '06

that was the time the m140 was phased out & in june / july came the m1210

i too dream of the m1210, maybe ... but the m140 is doin good
only that it's a tad bigger than the m1210 @ 14.1" screen

yup, the xps m1210 is an incredibly powerful machine for it's size
just do the customizing part carefully
1. processor, select the t7200 > an awesome 4 mb l2 cache
2. select the 256 mb nvidia graphics & not the intel gma950
3. os select the win xp media centre 2005
4. ram, select the ddr2 at 667 mhz, not 533 mhz

guess that's about it, lemme know u'r selection & we can refine

As stated, the MacBooks are great laptops, but if you are wanting them as gaming machines, they probably aren't the best solution for you. I am not a gamer myself, but I know several people who are Mac heads and their only complaint is the lack of gaming software that is written for Mac. The Dell XPS line is good and would serve you well. Sony is also a very good brand as has already been stated. Also look into MPC.

I own a Sony VAIO which is good but I suggest you to give Mac a try. Macbook or Macbook pro are the best ones.
Dell is good but not as good though. I don't suggest you to get Dell Laptop. Sony and Mac are good
