I have not seen this film but I heard a rumour that this was about a man trying to get a divorce from his wife. Is this correct?

No, if anything he's trying to do his best for himself, his wife and his son.

Nope, so wrong. While it is based on the true story of Christopher Gardner, a family man struggling to make ends meet, the film takes some liberties with Gardner's actual story. Starring Will Smith as Chris Gardner and Smith's real-life son Jaden Christopher Syre Smith as Gardner's son Christopher, The Pursuit of Happyness follows Gardner's struggles to break into the stock brokerage business as an intern, despite a rocky financial situation.

no the storyline is more about a man who just cant get a break.
him and his family are not really making ends meet, his wife wants a divorce and moves away. he's trying to get a career and look after a child, loses his home and has to stay in homeless shelters and at one time the toilet in the train station.
i thought it was really depressing all they way through, very well acted but i was soooo depressed.
it has a happy ending though.

No...It is about a man who has fallen on some tough times...his wife leaves him, he begs her to leave their son with him, he gets an internship at a high demanding stock market company, him and his son are living on nothing...he gets the job in the end with the company. In conclusion it is about a man pursuing to get a better life for his family, and the struggles he goes through to achieve them.

No this is not correct.
Not going to give too much away but its about a man going through troubles and strives of daily life- trying to make a buck and his career change to becoming a stock broker and how he became a millionaire.

Go see it, worth watching.

I haven't seen this, but if Will Smith can make the film seem like anything more than mawkish tripe, he deserves an Oscar...
