Within 3 hours awarninglist.com completely paralyzed my computer. The hijacker would not let me download a removal tool, and now my computer is pretty much frozen...it doesn't look good does it. If anyone knows anything to help my dying PC please help.
As soon as I saw the warning balloon I launched a Norton scan and it didn't even detect the trojan. It took two hours for the scan, and for another hour I tried, with no success to download a remover tool, by that time the computer was moving very slowly and not allowing the remover. Now the computer doesn't seem to be doing ANYTHING. It starts, but that is it

Reboot>repeatedly press F8 until the next screen comes up>I think you need to hit enter again. Now use your arrow keys to choose Safe Mode with Networking.

Now go to http://www.nosnoopware.com/removals/awarninglist.com.htm

Since you are in Safe Mode you may be able to download the removal tool.

You have a serious problem. I too had this encounter with the same software. There is a very complicated and painstaking process involved to remove this software. Since your computer is not working at this time, I suggest using a friend's computer to surf the internet for solutions. Search "awarninglist.com" on any search engine, and there will be many searches with information regarding this program's removal. It is run via a ZLOB trojan. This type of trojan allows the user to access the base Windows programs in order to create "Official" looking Windows alerts. DO NOT, by any means say "yes" or accept any of the warning. After your search, There will be programs you can download to scan for the virus, but you cannot act upon what these programs find until you buy the program. Therefore, use what data the program did find and manually delete the files yourself. [This requires no active internet connection, and I recommend staying off [disconnected from] the internet until the program is deleted, as the hackers running the program will continually try to access your system via the connection they have through your internet.] The one core file is "Video ActiveX Object". It is the heart and soul of the whole virus. And also the hardest to deal with. Upon deletion of the specified files, only one file [the offending one which infected your computer] will remain. To delete it, you must "kill" all system processes associated with it, and delte the file before the processes restart. DO NOT use your internet while still "on-board" with this virus. Spy-Heal, Mal-Ware Wiper, PestCatcher, etc. are ALL extra trojan horses embedded within this program, but have to be installed by you. Afterwards, restart your computer. This should, [if done correctly] return your computer to its last non-infected state. Best of luck getting rid of this one.

Disconnect from the Internet - unplug the cable. That will stop most of the functions of the hijacker.

Then reboot the computer in Safe Mode (repeatedly press the F8 key during boot up to until you get the screen with the Safe Mode option)

In Safe Mode, run your virus scanner, then also run a couple of antispyware programs such as Skybot Seek & Destroy and Ad-Aware SE Personal. Between them they should clear the hijacker.

Reboot the PC and it will return to Regular Mode. Reconnect the cable.

Go to MSconfig under Start --> Run. Follow the tabs to Services and Startup. I reccomend to DISABLE ALL ITEMS UNDER STARTUP. Then reboot your system and do a scan. Otherwise, slave the drive up to another machine and scan it as a slave.
