There are many different types of multi-vitamins out there. I imagine you have already tried many of these?? I don't know of a particular brand that is designed to elude stomach upset, because there is really no way to change the make up of a multi-vitamin considering its purpose.

The biggest culprit of stomach upset in multivitamins is IRON (which is actually a mineral). Try to avoid this, if you don't need it. Some of the other minerals in multivit's are usually the other more common culprits of stomach upset (ie. calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc) but most multivit's contain these and they are hard to avoid. Most vitamins (ie. Vitamin C,E,D) are not really known to cause stomach upset.

A couple other alternatives... Try a multivitamin WITHOUT minerals.. at least it would be a start. And then add minerals as you feel you need them. (ex> calcium pills for osteoporosis)

Another alternative. Try a lower dose multivitamin with minerals (ex> Centrum Protegra) which requires you to take two pills per day. Then maybe split the dose dose up into a morning dose and evening dose.

I have the same problem. However, if I take my vitamin in the morning in the middle of my breakfast or after breakfast, I don't have a problem. But it has to be immediately after breakfast. A full stomach helps me. I've had my gall bladder out too. I wouldn't take the vitamins at bedtime though. The "B" vitamins that I add to my multivitamin, keep me awake. I think it's the "B12" specifically. It's great in the morning though as an addition to your multivitamin. It gives you added energy. The "B" vitamins help me feel great. Even helps your bones stop aching when taken regularly and stops cramping and PMS. They need to build in your system for about a month to really see the difference. I highly recommend adding them to your multivitamin. I also add extra vitamin C and herbal supplements based on my needs. Good luck to you!

I'm an RN in an OB clinic. Many pregnant women have the same problems with vitamins if they've been experiencing nausea anyway. Our Drs. always recommend Flintstones chewable vitamins. It seems to do the trick for our patients. some tips:
Take the vitamin at bedtime
Never take a vitamin on an empty stomach (it's essential)
Always follow the vitamin with at least a full glass of water to
flush it through the stomach as quickly as possible.

Let me know if this works for you!

I take the chewable Viactiv. You can get them in chocolate or strawberry. They taste good and there is no pill to have to digest.
