Can mobile phone transmitters pinpoint a location to a post code or is it just the area?

As I understand it the operators can tell which ariel you are transmitting from so in a big city where they have to be close they can pinpoint you within a few hundred yards but in the country where they are far more spread out they can only get within a mile or so

down to a postcode is easy...

using gprs you can be pinpointed to within a circle of approximately 2.5m diameter

Just using gps (normal phone connectivity), it's to within 10m

As long as your phone's on you can be seen, and you can be tracked - you don't even have to be using it

So if you're on the run, doing anything dodgy, or jus don't want to be found... Throw your phone away, or at least turn it off. If you need regular use of your mobile phone, have different sim cards under different addresses, and don't allow people to phone you, they leave a message, you get back to them...
