Built in the modernistic style of the late 50's/early 60's, the city seems beautiful from all the pictures I've seen. But I also know that the modernistic style can make a place less livable, cold, empty, increasing travel times, inhibiting business and harboring pockets of crime. Does Brasilia fall into that, or has it avoided it?

Thanks!

The city has a soul, it did not fall into the pit of being a metropolitan off spring of politics or economics like what happened in Dubai for example.

Brasilia has evolved into an exiting city, with surprisingly a lot of cultural attractions and is not all about business. The fact that it is a tourst attraction solidifies its image as a rich city. There are of course pockets of crime, but that is how it is in Brasil in general.

Brasília is not so liked by brazilians because it's very different.
People take longer to get into friendships, car ownership is a must because residential and business areas are completely apart. Crime is a concern in the poorer areas, far from the Brasilia area proper. Traffic is not that bad. Quality of life is the third highest, but the city is expensive, mainly housing.

Unfortuantely, the proper care hasn't been given to the landmarks.
