Face it. Male teenagers do not get their dose of role-modeling from the models in Tiger Beat and J-14. They get it from the men around them like their fathers or older male friends. If that were the case, American males would end up looking like all the other metrosexuals on the OC where masculinity is judged from a distorted female perspective(Tiger Beat) instead of being evaluated from people that do not place premiums on appearance and trendiness.
Don't bother with those magazines. Use it as recon to find out what girls like but do not ever start believing "tha hype". That's the minute girls will see you as a "good friend" and not that man who swept them off their feet by being who he was.

Because girls are more willing to spend money to first, purchase the magazine (for those oh so "enticing" articles) and second (and maybe more importantly), buy the products which are advertised in the magazine.
