Why do ALL white people get a bum rap?

I thought I would use this as my soap box to kind of let it be known to other races that not ALL white people are racist. I'm sorry that there are white racists out there, but I don't want you guys to hate all of us just because of these dumbasses. I grew up in a black neighborhood and my best friend is black. I want you guys to know that we aren't all hateful. I guess what brings this out is the new developments on the 1964 murder case in Mississippi, which is where I'm from. I know we're seen as backwards and racists, but trust me, we're not all like that. It seems no matter what we do, though, idiots, black and white, tend to make us seem horrible. I could say the same for the world. Most of the world sees Americans as self-centered and domineering. I wonder if the countries that we help think that way. I'm ranting, I know, I'm also pregnant and moody. Just wanted to say my piece for the month. I am American, white and I am proud of that. Thanks for listening.

Ok I will put up a soap box next to yours so my voice will be heard also.
I'm from Mississippi also. The first time I said that in Texas I was in nursing school. The teachers were all black except one. The failed me. The white teacher gave me high marks in the skills test but the black ones did not. I needed to make 75 to stay in the class I got 74. I did not protest it because after one semester I decited I did not want to be a nurse because of all the legal stuff.
I do not hate anyone. I feel there is good in everyone. I believe every one can do what they want to do, no holds because of the color of their skin. I do not feel I am a races because of the way I think. I do not look at a black person and say OMG I hate that person, or walk the othere way to avoid them but, I do not look a black person and want them to marry my daughter either. I am a dialysis tech and have lots of black people I have to stick with needles everyday. If a black person, or anyone else is in truble I treat them, but there are some black people that will not let me touch their machine because I am white. Then there are some people that just do not like anyone. I told a black nurse he just don't like me because I am white, she said then they don't like me because I am light. I know i am not the easiest person to know, but I have had people use me so I am people shy. I have co-workers that are black, white and Asian,and we get along just fine. My kids have black friends, my husband has black co-workers. I will admit I am scared of black people because of there bad rap in the news. I did not grow up with black people and did not know any until I started in dialysis. The black techs inlighted me on things I did not know. I stayed at that unit as the only white tech for 5 years. Everyday we would have black and white debates, not conflicks just talks. We would hug, and eat lunch. One day after 2 years of me working there one of the black pt. let me stick him...you could hear a pin drop. I was the first white person to stick him, when I got through he said it was no different then the black people sticking him. He was scared I would hurt him because I was white.
Now just a closing statement: We need to talk with other culturs to understand our differences. Just because we are different does not mean we are bad. It just means we do not need to let that difference get in the way.
If we were all the same we would have nothing to talk about.
We would have no questions to ask: Does that look good on me? What do you think? Those questions would never come up because we are all the same so there would be nothing to talk about.
I believe all people have the right to be/do what ever they want to be/do in life as long as it is not hurting anyone. They can go to school and be what ever they want to be.

and just like you said not all whits are races, not all black or any other race of that matter says you are racist, okay if you're gonna say that one group says this then you should get your facts straight
