Great guitar players....Hendrix, Methany, Holdsworth, Van Halen, Lynch, Kotte, Hedges, Keaggy, Trower, Clapton, Ford,Beck, Satriani.........all can SING the notes either in their mind or out loud as they are playing.

Then.....add singing the lyrics and doing both playing guitar and singing become second nature like breathing.

For me it takes a little while, but it's easier to play and sing when the rhythm of the singing is very close to the rhythm of the guitar. Trust me.

Just keep on practicing. It'll come in time. Don't try to rush it. Some people don't ever get there. But try not to get discouraged. Stick with it and you'll undoubtedly get more proficient. Good Luck.

That's an individual thing.
Many can do both right away where some can never keep time while doing both.

Mostly depends on how much you practice, though to some it does to seem to come naturally. But they stilled have practiced a lot to perfect it.
