trust me if you want your labor to be a bit painless, exercise is the best way to prepare your mind and body for the labor. I did a lot of walking, stretching, leg lifts and squats. 5lb weight for your arms can do too. Swimming is also a great and safe way to work out your body. You can also doTailor Exercises which relieved my lower back pain.
Tailor exercises strengthen the pelvic, hip and thigh muscles and can help relieve low back pain.
Tailor sit. Sit on the floor with your knees bent and ankles crossed. Lean slightly forward, and keep your back straight but relaxed. Use this position whenever possible throughout the day.
Tailor press. Sit on the floor with your knees bent and the bottoms of your feet together. Grasp your ankles and pull your feet gently toward your body. Place your hands under your knees. Inhale. While pressing your knees down against your hands, press your hands up against your knees (counter-pressure). Hold for a count of five.

I'm on my 3rd baby due in April and have been doing the same things for the last oh..who knows 6 years maybe more. Yoga, and plitates, of course when your pregnant you need to alter some of it to make it comfortable and better for your back. But I havn't really had to stop and or change much over the years.
They say swiming is great! Anything in the water is great, of course not diving or intensive things.. but you'd know that just by thinking with logic there..
For me though yoga and pilates has just been great, The only probelm I've ever had with each kids is leg cramps even with all the stretching I do, but it takes headaches away, it helps you breath and focus which you'll need come D-Day, you'll have more movements in muscles and more control (ha, that's funny to think about..full control during labor!) But really if you ask me, anything that can keep your mind focused and breathing well will be great for the labor part.
Also it helps or they say helps shorten labor, and helps recover after if you keep it up throughout the pregnancy. I had two long deliveries, but my recovery was indeed quick and eaiser than I thought it would be.
Talk with your doc, see what they recommend is best for you. Remember if it doesn't feel right, stop doing it.

I have heard women swear by yoga. It makes the body more supple. Any exercise will be beneficial. The better condition your body is in the shorter and less difficult your labor is apt to be.
Before you start any exercise that you did not normally do before you were pregnant, consult your ob doctor.

anything that isn't too streneous or that would really be uncomfortable. but if you were in good shape before you got pregnant, you can keep up with your routine in moderation. walking is excellent and so is stair climbing. really anything that will help keep your heart rate up and keep your lungs in good shape.
