i decided to home school my daughter she is a Jr in HS. I called the school to inform them and was told because i am divorced i need to bring in the divorce papers stating i have custody..i was divorced 14 yrs ago and had an amicalbe divorce and didnt have the papers. the school has since "dropped" my daughter because i did not come in and unregister her...what effect does her being "dropped" from school have. i was told it will look bad for other schools like for college...any truth to this?

First of all, you can contact the court clerks office in the county where you were divorced to get a copy of your divorce decree. You will need that in future situations anyway. I am quite surprised you have not needed them before now.
Now, if your daughter is not attending school, Child Protective Services WILL be paying you a visit. It is not a matter of if but when. And at that time you will be required to produce your divorce decree.
This needs your immediate attention.
Also, how can you home school your child if you are a single Mom? Don't you have a job? I am not trying to be rude. But it is a valid question.
