You hear a lot of people say things like "I can't listen to Bruce Springsteen anymore because he's a liberal" or "I won't watch any Brad Pitt movies because he left his wife" or whatever. I guess this question could apply to sports, too. What do you think?

When it comes to their love life or how they voted,etc..,I wouldn't let it deter me from seeing a film or listening to a song just because I don't agree with their moral or political stance! In my opinion, that's going a bit overboard!!

First and foremost, too many people believe what they read and hear. If it's in media, it must be true, right? B.S. Please consider the source when absorbing 'heresay' about any entertainer. Ya gotta love how people will just say anything about anybody, just as if they're hangin out with em on a regular basis. "Yea, Springsteen said this and Brad Pitt did that." What a joke!

That being said, I 'usually' don't let an entertainer's view effect how much I enjoy their work. They are entitled to their freedom of belief and I respect that, regardless of whether or not I agree with them. There may be an exception or two in the mix say....such as OJ!

These people are given fame to entertain us. They have every right to say or do as they wish, just like anyone does. However I have the right to not patron their works if there something about them that offends me. This is especially true with moral and politically natured items. Fans make them fans can break them. I personally want to see beautiful music or acting and not them running teir mouths on a subject they read about in a magazine somewhere that they have no real knowledge about.

As I think about it, yes I do but in most cases it is due to their portrayed personalities/habits not political. The exception of political I can think of is Jane Fonda during Vietnam war.
With the other would be Cycelee Tyson, Diana Ross, Ike Turner, etc.

nope, I don't because to each its own. for someone to allow another person to have that kind affect on their lives is crazy. Like the Dixie Chicks, I do think it is inappropriate for people to interrupt paying customers entertainment to illustrate their personal political views, but so what they hate Bush, they still make good music. I think it works both ways, celebs need to stop pushing their beliefs on fans who don't care about it, and people need to stop allowing it to affect them.

I still love Micheal Jackson. Does that answer the question? Now is it right that they get a better than average deal for their accusations? No. But hey I love his music and would continue to support.

Commendable question.

I'd be frank and I'd admit that my mind would divert to that thought but it won't affect how I perceive that person's ability of doing the job professionally.
