If you are referring to a rectal thermometer clean it with a damp cloth with a little soap on it, then go over the part that is inserted into the rectum with alcohol either on a cotton ball {cloth}or with an alcohol pad

depends on what kind of thermometer you have. if it's one of those ear ones, it should have come with disposable plastic tips that go over it and you wouldn't need to clean it. but i have a regular old fashioned one and i use the clorox all surface spray (the kind that you can use around food and stuff) and spray a little on a paper towel and just wipe it off and let it dry completely before using it again.

We use alcohol pads, and clean it after each use. I do use soap and water, but I do that after the illness has passed, and I am not using it very often. The alcohol pads will clean it and kill the bacteria that is on it. The soap and water will do an overall cleaning after I am done using it so often. It is up to you, though. Both work.

i just use some dial soap and warm water on the end of it. Thats how i clean ours, we have 4 boys and have had the same one for many years lol so i guess its been clean enough to not cause anyone to be sick from it haha. But yea dial soap is antibacterial and they recommend using it for alot of things.

With any thermometer, especially a rectal one, wipe it off with toilet paper or tissue. Wash it in warm soapy water. Dry it then wipe it off with alcohol.

Regular old household rubbing alcohol is fine, or a bleach solution of 1 part bleach, 10 parts water.
