Do I need more than an s video cable for pc to tv watching?

Also, How do I check if my dell is capable of showing on tv?

No it should work. You have to go to control panel/Display/advanced, and depending on what your video card is, there should be an option for TV.

I have this cool do-dad in my graphics card so when i plug an s-video cable into my graphics card and into the tv, unplug the monitor , it works on the TV.

Yes, you also need the sound cable(s)
Check the rear of your video card, whether it has a S-video output jack.
