There is a list of 32 virtues. He needs all the arts.He should have no lust, anger, greed ,ego or attachment.Completely non violent and live his life by the highest moral codes.
No one has those qualities today but it is possible to learn them.We fight if we do not have any of them.
It is like if you go shopping and buy all the stuff to cook a great meal and then realise you have not got a matchstick.

I feel like I married a great man and he's very understanding, faithful, dependable, protective, honest, very funny, romantic. Whenever we go out and other women check him out he always grabs my hand or waist and kisses me so they'll know they dont have a chance. He looks me in the eyes all the time and tells me he loves me. He understands that when i have pms all I want is ice cream and a back rub, he sepends time with our daughter, hes good to his parents and mine, he knows when to let me win, he cooks whenever I have a hard day with our kid...the list goes on and on. I guess a good husband actually takes the time to understand his wife inside and out and anticipate her moods and what to do to make her happy.

Honesty
Willingness to Compromise
Considerate
A man that say thank you
That's about it.
Big bonus would be a man who tells his spouse here and there that they love them, or remind them that they are beautiful and that they are important to them.
Don't get me wrong, all of the above goes a long way with men when women say it too.

Honesty and commumication. Without these no relationship works. Remind her every once in awhile why you married her and let her know it is still true. Don't just tell her you love her, show her. Women are multi taskers...ask her if she needs help even if you know she is handling things well. Do these things and she will melt in your hands.

The role of the husband evolves around the moral principle that it is his solemn duty to Allah to treat his wife with kindness, honor, and patience; to keep her honorably or free her from the marital bond honorably; and to cause her no harm or grief. Allah Almighty says what maybe translated as:
Consort with them in kindness, for if you hate them it may happen that you hate a thing wherein Allah hath placed much good. (Quran 4: 19)
A husband is commanded by the law of God to:
1.Treat his wife with equity.
2. Respect her feelings, and to show her kindness and consideration.
3. Not to show his wife any aversion or to subject her to suspense or uncertainty.
4. Not to keep his wife with the intention of inflicting harm on her or hindering her freedom.
5. Let her demand freedom from the marital bond, if he has no love or sympathy for her.
The role of the wife is summarized in the verse that women have rights even as they have duties, according to what is equitable; but men have a degree over them. Allah Almighty says,
And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness, and men are a degree above them. Allah is Mighty, Wise. (Quran 2:228)
This degree is usually interpreted by Muslim scholars in conjunction with another passage which states, among other things, that men are trustees, guardians, and protectors of women because Allah has made some of them excel others and because men expend of their means. Allah Almighty says,
Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great. (Quran 4: 34)

well speaking from my opinion, i would have to say a man who was honest with his wife and truly loved and cared for her would make the best husband.I think if a man tries his best at what he's doing and is honest, loving and caring well it makes things more intense and just plain simple. It would also lead to a romantic state and make for a great relationship.Every woman loves an honest man and one who just has eyes for her.
