About time the British got their money back!(&?)?

Question

Why the hell have we only JUST paid off our debt to the US for their 'help' in WWII? Why did practically every other country in Western Europe get money under the Marshall Plan - friend or foe - except us? Why didn't we get compensation from the French for pulling their fat out of the fire twice? Why don't we push a bit harder for compensation from the French for the number of times they've been told to compensate us for blocking our ports and burning our sheep? Was it all some kind of ploy to put Britain in its place in the first place? Now look at the world, I think it's time we got all our money back and became the superpower we were in 1907 again - we're the only ones you can trust with the damned world! Plus revocate the American Declaration of Independence if they only play silly sods when they get the chance to vote!

The debt is not for Military help, but rather equipment purchased.

Presumably once we've turned back the clock to 1909 we can get back to being the bigoted, self-opinionated bastards we were then.

And in case you didn't notice, we can't be trusted with other people's countries, at least not since WW1. We promised people more than we could reasonably deliver again and again, just to guarantee short-term assistance and totally bungled every mandate in a troubled country (albeit with the exception of the Malayan emergency) that we got involved in.

Revocate isn't a real word anyway. I think you mean "revoke".

Not too likely, and would you want to be responsible for dealing with all the morons in that country? (not the 2 coasts, the rectangular no-where land states in the middle...)

I really enjoyed reading through your answers, I also enjoyed reading your question. Not much on the TV anyway!
From your question you appear to be a sort of 'typical' Englishman. (Note I didn't say Brit!) Bombastic, self righteous in fact just about everything the world imagines the English to be, except strangely enough some American folk seem to like to the English accent?
"Compensation from the French"?? Why don't you pay compensation to the folk of the Channel Islands for leaving them to their fate with the Germans?
In fact if you had to pay out compensation to all the countries you have robbed throughout the years you would be even more penniless than they are now.
Are you trying to suggest that America didn't 'help out' during the war? Yes we do all know why they actually joined in, but it wasn't the Brits or the Americans that won the war, if it was narrowed down it was the Russians, and the rest of the 'allies' were very busy in the background trying to decide whether or not to put Russia on their list of destruction. I'll bet it was a real sickener when the Russians were the first into Berlin?

We certainly do 'we' have a history of raping and pillaging every country 'we' have ever made a visit to, 'we' have also been kicked out of most of them, I wonder why?, arent they grateful for what 'we' have done for them? I cant understand the Irish not being very greatful during the potatoe famine!
