My 4 months old son had his immunizations 2 days ago and last night he did not fall asleep at all untill 6 a.m.! But he did not seem to be in pain at all. He just wanted me to hold him and than when I put him back to bed, 5 minutes later he started making noises again, and again...untill the morning.
Have your kids ever done that?

PS. Please don't answer "ask your doctor", I just wanted to hear different opinions. Thank you!

Immunisations can make kids feel lethargic and slightly ill or off. Both my children wanted to be held and rocked to sleep and wouldnt sleep if i put them down. He was probably just feeling a little scratchy and just wanted mommy. Was he tired at all? Did he sleep maybe too much in the couple of days after the immunisations?

When my daughter got her 4 month shots, I had to cuddle her all the time. Normally she loves to play by herself, and has been sleeping in a crib in her own room for quite some time. Even if she was not crying in pain, she still looked so unhappy - she was frowning even in her sleep, it made me so sad to see her so upset! I just held her and told her I loved her, it took about 3 days. But she was still running a low-grade fever in the evenings for about a week, and needed extra attention then.

my son regularly has feverlike, generally cranky symptoms for about two days after. This is fairly normal and you can give childrens tylonol at the appropriate dosages ever 4 hours, starting an hour before the vaccines are given.

my daughter had the opposite reaction! she would come home and sleep all day, get up for two hours, eat, and go back to sleep for the rest of the night! the shots react differently to diffrent children. the measles and mumps shot gave my daghter a fever, but still put her to sleep. it sounds like your son needs extra comfort after this process, so i would give t to him and eventually it will get better as he gets older and his immune system gets stronger! Good luck!

My son doesnt do that. Maybe he did have discomfort and wanted you to hold him. I know when my son gets his shots if we do not massage the injection sites he will scream for almost a week in pain because these sites do "knot" up. Like I said maybe he has discomfort.
