I think I am really underpaid and have a review for an increse in pay cominin up in march maybe sooner. What is the best website to figure out what I should be making that is most accurate. Is any out there worth paying for?

Basically I have worked for this company for 1 1/2 years when my review comes up in quality control in injection molding/manufacturing. I have an additional 5 years expierence that is the same but a little diffrent which is in extrusion/manufacturing. Im only making 26,300 a year. Been in no trouble, able to do my job with no supervision occasional questions though, got put on my own after 1 week of training, no write ups. What is the best to go about asking for the raise. What should I say and not say when I ask for it. Should I say that I may have to look for other employment. Company is relatively small about 40 employees but I know what one of the other qcs is making and it is like 4,000 more a year with less expierence. Im not as demanding as her.

I was not planning on saying that she makes this much this is what I want. I just learned what she was making. Im not like that. Shes more aggressive & I am not unless I need to be. There are other jobs however I do like the company and would like to stay but if the only give me a 25 cent raise again which is all I got since I started Im thinking I will need to move on. How do I get what I want.

Im not supposed to know what she makes. But I do want to beable to negotiate a fair pay which i think would be right around the 30,500 without bringing up how much she is making

Don't use your co-worker to push for a pay raise, If there is a better paying job in your industry in your neighborhood put in an application. State to your upper management that your pay is poor and that you believe that you are underpaid for all that you offer to the company.

If they fail to respond and there is no other job, drop the subject. Opportunities for you will come through other means.

Well when I asked that question things went sour. Though I ended up in supervision in the next company. With not much more in income. I eventually burned out from all the extra hours, paperwork and filling in the gaps, that I did a complete change.
QC is not really different from manufacturer to manufacturer.
I went from plastics to grey iron and basically doubled my money. There are vast differences only in the work environment. The temperature of the shop is a lot higher. The parts are heavier. The tolerances are basically the same.

"Should I say that I may have to look for other employment"

Only if you want to be freed up (fired) to look for another job right away. Threats frequently backfire.

"one of the other qcs is making and it is like 4,000 more a year with less expierence"

When they tell you what they are offering (assuming it does not at least match what the other person makes), say:

"Thank you, but that figure is not acceptable. So-and-So earns _____, with less experience that I have. I do my job with no supervision and have no write-ups. I believe that 30,500 a year is fair for my experience, performance and position. I'd like to formally ask you to reconsider your figure and get back to me with your decision."

That leaves it open for them to do right by you or not. If they do, great. You get what you deserve and all is well.

If they don't, keep your mouth shut while you look for another job and then quit with 2 weeks notice. Their loss, not yours.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot so you can talk big and make threats about leaving. You either want another job or you don't. Do what you need to do and leave the threats out of it.
