Johnny Cash - One (The U2 song) Beautiful :)

That is certainly and great cover of a classic Bowie track.

My favourite ever cover version is by a band called "Blackmore's Night" which features Deep Purple and Rainbow guitar legend Richie Blackmore and his fiancee Candice Night.
The song is a cover of the Judas Priest classic "Diamonds and Rust". The cover version is far more melodic and emotional than the original. It's wonderful.

Usually I think most cover versions are just cash-ins or ripoffs but sometimes a band will really make a song seem like new.

Nirvana's Man Who Sold The World was kickass ... so was their version of Molly's Lips. And I've always had a soft spot for Stone Temple Pilots' Dancing Days.

I have too many:

U2s "Dancing Barefoot" originally by Patti Smith
Kula Shaker's remake of Deep Purple's "Hush"
Johnny Cash's remake of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" is amazing
Sarah McLachlan's version of Joni Mitchell's "River"
Nirvana doing The Meat Puppet's "Lake of Fire" and "Plateau"

There are more, but those are the ones that stick out right now.

> Christina Aguilera's cover of "At Last" by Etta James
> John Mayer's cover of "Bold As Love" by Jimi Hendrix
> Yellowcard's cover of "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds
> Destiny's Child version of "Emotion"
> um....there's probably more but I can't think of any right now...

Jimi Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower".

Gotta be All Along The Watchtower
Even Dylan admitted that Jimi's version was better than his own.. Smart guy. As much as I love Dylan, Hendrix just makes the song his own. Dylan created it, Jimi perfected it!
