Hello,
My company currently uses the Sprint wireless network adapters for onsite business use (in the field where there are no land based connections) and they are painstakingly slow. Someone in our group heard that the Hughes Satellite system was a better option. So...does anyone use this system for this purpose and if so, what are your thoughts ? Thanks and have a good day.

I use it. I have the Home Consumer Plan. I find it very dependable and I get above posted speed most of the time. Of course weather will effect it. However it will be less a issue with the business account. They have a bigger dish and more powerful transmitter. A good place to get more information is at broadband reports. They have alot of users and posters on the forum and you can learn alot about others experiences.

Not sure what Hughes system you're referring to but if it's the Hughes satellite system I use then it's not something you can carry around with you. It's a rather large antenna that's anchored in the ground then connected by 2 coaxial cables to the router (1 for transmit, the other for receive). And it's darn expensive. $600 for the equipment and to install it (I think they have a special going right now where you can save $100). For the basic service it's $60 a month. And it's slow compared to DSL.

Also they use what they refer to as the FAP (fair access policy). If you download more than a certain amount of megabytes within a certain timeframe they drop your bandwidth down incredible low (modem speed) for a few hours.

Basically it sucks and it's expensive.

edit: Also forgot to mention that upload speeds are no better than a modem.
