Oh yessssssssss, back in the 60's I was comfortably numb for long periods of time.
At least I think I was, I really don't remember all that well.

Listening to this song when i was young (and many many other pink floyd albums and watching the movie "The Wall ") it quickly became apprarent that "comfortable numb" was an expression used for well and truely wasted aka , being very high, thus being numb and not having a care in the world .
