for a quite place i would recommend LEFKAS
its an island on the west Greece.
it has 2 of the beautiest bitches you ll ever see in a lifetime.pictures
you can find by searching Porto katsiki and kathisma.
the waters on the west side are amazing.
the advantage of the island is that is connected with the main land with a small bridge.so you dont have to take a boat and loose precious time.
its about 5 hours from athens by bus but also has an airport.
prices are quite cheap as you can find to stay with 35-40 euros.
in some ports of lefkas you ll be able to take small daily cruises to the neighboring islands "ithaki" "kefallonia"

Go to Volos and visit Pelion, the mythical mountain of Centaurs! The town is very beautiful and you can have relaxed moments next to the sea combining the view of the mountain which is 15 minutes from the city centre! Very beautiful place with lots to do and see!

i recently went to laganas in zante, the resort has a brilliant nightlife, has plenty to see; a water park dolphins and a ship wreck to name just a few.If you're travelling with family it has lots of things for children and young adults. Although it has a bit of a reputation as a party Paradise I think that it is also suited to couples of all ages.

I would suggest Chania in Crete. Chania with its Venetian port is one of the most scenic towns in Greece.
Crete is a big island, where you will never feel that you have seen it all. There is so much to do and see, from important archaeological sites and museums, to excellent beaches, deep gorges and high mountains.
Take a look at these pictures of Chania: http://www.explorecrete.com/gallery/album21

As per the answers within, you must realise that there is NO such thing as" best". It is highly subjective and it connotes personal favorites which you might not regard with the same esteem.
However, I must say, having visited all these places aforementioned I agree with all commentators. They are gorgeously magnificent. All of them. Having said that, I have not been to a place I haven't liked.

Zante/Zachynthos. I stayed somewhere really quiet with my family but on the other side of the island there was loads of nightlife. It's really pretty there too. Laganas is the busiest place for night life I think
