A lot of people may find that weird. I wasn't allowed to date until I was 17.

This is a tough time in life when you want to date and do things that make you feel more like an adult, your parents aren't wierd they probably just don't want you to make a big mistake. I am the mother of an 11 younglady and I too feel that 16 is probably still too young to actually date. I think that by asking her to wait is instilling more self respect inher. I think that having good girlfriends that aren't dating either is where you will find your answer. Your parents love and care about you alot, 18 is not far off and then you will have what it take to join the dating world. Its Rough!

Take Care

Hang out with the girls and enjoy having it made, Thank your parents for caring

Well, why do you say you don't have a problem with that rule but then at the end of the same sentence you ask who else has the same problem. So i'm guessing you do have some sort of problem with it. My parents never told me i couldn't date, so i don't know how that feels, but i have many friends who aren't allowed to date. It seems pretty normal for many households. Most of them however date anyway, not listening to their parents.

I am 13 and I also can't date. I'm sure when I am your age I still won't be able to either. A lot of my friends have the same rule. My mom tells me that I can get married when I am 40 and date when I am 50 (ha,ha). It'll be a long time until I can date, but not that long.

I don't have a dating rule..
I'm 15 & allowed to date if i want, I don't though..
Just that the boys I'm interested in arent interested in me or the ones that are interested in me are just not my type.
So just flirt & have some fun.
Only rule i've been given is no-one over the age of 19.

I'm almost 18 and I still have never dated. I also never have:
Had my heartbroken
Broke someone elses heart
Lost friends because of who I dated.

When I was your age I hated the fact that I couldtn' date but now I am glad that I have never had to go through such emotial trauma at such a young age.

I had that same problem. I am 19 now and in college, but my mom always wanted me to worry about school. Just as long as you respect your parents you'll be fine. Oh, and if you ever decide you want to date- just be open and honest with them, even if they still say no they'll respect you for being truthful about it.
GOOD LUCK! and you're not alone!

I don't think it's weird at all.
I'm 15 and I've never been on a date, I've never had a first kiss, and of course never had a boyfriend before.
I don't know why some people would think it's weird.
I think the longer you wait for all that stuff the better.

I'm way past your age, but I was allowed to date at 14. Came as a big surprise to me, cos my parents were pretty strict. Have you asked why you can't date yet, and what age will you be able to date?

I'm 15 and I've been allowed to date since last year(ish).. HOWEVER, as a result of me dating that young, I've seen and been through alot that I shouldn't have. I wish my parents would have made me wait longer..
