I think in this day in age we have become too politically correct and people have lost any sense of humour. Life is far too serious these days and people need to get a life! In relation to the Jade Goody thing, bulling I cannot stand racisim I cannot, but how can we define it as people take offence at different things.

Respect should be foremost in everyones life - PC should not! Everyone should know what NOT to say in situations and how to correct when they do offend

I agree. It is all about attention - good and bad. The popular thing is to be "politically correct". No one should make jokes regarding a persons ethnic background, religion, gender, national origin, etc. That is cruel. But you shouldn't be so uptight about such things that you cannot enjoy some humor. People are way too tense and are looking for things to be offended about. If the words were meant to be personal, be offended. Otherwise, relax and enjoy.

I`m a white Englishman - And so being, I celebrate everything that is English, including St. George`s Day. Even though the childish PC tree-hugging people say it is wrong because it might upset the ethnic`s. Do I sound as if I give a feck? I do not use the racist card as a weapon - it would not work anyway with me being white lol It is true that this country England is slowly but surely losing it`s identity because of small minded, mentaly retarded wanabe`s who think they are someone special, when in reality they are lower than snail sh1t. I and a few like me where I live fly the St. George`s Flag, and no one including the Third Reich council where we live has ever asked for them to be removed.......They know better. So if all this makes me Racist, then so be it. I really don`t care!

Kj got it wrong.
The nation as a whole has become more aware of their surroundings. Why? Because many migrants have come to make this place their home. IT IS their home.
Rewind to the 1800's. Back then, only culture was Christian. Majority were white. Blacks if existed in small numbers, were relegated to slavery.
FF to 2000. The social fabric is so different. You take orders from them, you give orders to them and you work along with other cultures. You mingle, interact, socialize with other cultures.
Being PC is the prudent thing to do. Intelligent thing to do. Nobody ever said others are not being pc. They are. You just are not accepting it. At least your mind doesn't want to. Look around next time when you travel in a public transportation. Look around the next time you are in a public place like, say, a mall. What do you see.? Who owns those shops? What contributions of theirs have touched your life? Everyday?
We live in a different world today friends. Different world indeed. Being PC is the way to go. If not it is you who reap what you sow.

Don't lump ME into that "all" category, because I'm not buying into this PC nonsense. I have always felt, and firmly believe that we all are totally equal to one another, and we all deserve the same rights, advantages and respect. While I would never intentionally hurt someone else's feelings, ever.......I still will NOT bend over backwards or take drastic measures to insure that I don't. Mainly because: I am a white, middle class Christian American woman, and I feel "slammed" by a lot of people on a regular basis. I usually ignore it because it's not really important to me what others think. But since nobody seems to worry about being PC with MY feelings, so why should I worry about it with others?

This country is too politically correct and I am tired of it!!! Has anyone ever heard that you can not please everyone? What does not kill you, only makes you stronger? And sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me? America is always trying to please the rest of the world and a small minority of sensitive people in this country and I think it is making our country weak and are children less equipped for the real world.

Telling someone to go back to India, not calling them by a simple Indian name because its "too difficult to pronounce" and constantly refernencing someone ethnicity in a demeaning way can quite understandibly be seen as racist or bigotted.
If people would use common courtesy and RESPECT, we wouldn't have these PC zealots about. There are certain things you don't speak about in mixed company: Religion, Politics and Your Personal Life!!!!!

Yes, political correctness is like sugar coating a turd. It makes something that stinks to the core sweet enough for one good lick, but after that a mouth full of crap.
We must fight this by being willing to call things what they are regardless of the attempts by the liberal thought police to silence us when we speak the truth.
