Propane burns much cleaner than heating oil. You will appreciate the cleaner walls, carpeting etc.
You may want to change the filter more often for the first few months. A lot of oil residue is in the supplies.

well safety wise i doubt you gained any thing there. a new propane furnace is pretty safe bet how ever. but there is some great features when going gas versus oil like propane will not gel up in winter. also you don't ever need to prime the system if you run out of propane. propane is much cleaner. and propane furnaces our much simpler there for more reliable. as well as cheaper to repair and service. only advantage i see oil having over propane is oil has a high caloric value per unit. but when compared to cost and benefits i say propane wins every time.

I would say it depends on what your heating garage? Rv? Treehouse or Urt. Lol.square footage of room. Propane is comparable in price 1 dollar a pound doesn't sound right I should have checked date of post lol. I have 2 7 gallon tanks on camp trailer cost me 3.49 a gal. With propane you'll have less stink, the propane (buddy) heaters put out big btu's for a fast heat but if it were me , in a conditioned space IE something with any r.value to retain heat I. Would go with stove oil or even #2 dsl, farm grade or dirty fuel.A lot of those stoves you can even mix in used motor oil just up size the jet in the carburetor . I am of course talking about shop, gar camp, temp heat. Look up btu values British thermal units for efficiency . I recently purchased a catalytic 12000 btu for my 5th wheel that thing can burn some fuel in a hurry 20 lbs prop lasted about 4 days camping in 20 degree weather it did keep int cozy 70 ish . 99% efficient . I would still rather go with oil monitor. More of a radiant heat.good luck be safe if installed in sleeping areas.

Make sure you purchase a forward contract for your propane in late summer or early fall. Propane prices like heating oil fluctuate sometimes quite a bit and its usually higher right when you need to buy. Your propane supplier should be able to contract with you.

We had propane heat and the first year was pretty good. We liked the way it heated the home and it was very comparable to oil heat in price. The next year it almost doubled, the 3rd winter we were paying approx $350.00 per month in the winter months for propane heat. We have now converted to natural gas and it is costing us approx $120.00 per month in the winter months. Just keep an eye on the price of propane.
