My wife is now 8 weeks pregnant. She went and had blood work down and ultrasound last week. They found a heart beat and said everything looked good however her HCG levels were high but her progesterone level was low..just 8.7. They gave her progesterone suppliments to take twice per day but now she is freaking out. She said her breasts don't feel as full as they did last week. Can someone tell me if this is a sign of things going wrong or is this nothing to worry about? Has anyone had a similar experience with a positive outcome?

If she had progesterone supplements, she should be okay. I don't know if there are any signs of lowering HCG levels, besides the blood test.

If the doc heard a heartbeat and everything is fine, then your wife will be fine. Just tell her to relax.

The change in breast tissue could just be fluctuating levels of water retention. I don't know what signs of decreasing HCG are but when I miscarried a few years ago, my breasts stayed full way after I had my diagnosis and subsequent D&C. So, breasts changing may not mean anything bad. The progesterone supplements should help. It's not uncommon for progesterone levels to be a problem in early pregnancy. I did take them myself on my last pregnancy which was successful. But, mind you- the supplements alone can make her freak out. Hormone supplements in general can make a woman act kind of crazy.

well..
the HCG is a hormone that is secreted from the placenta, if ur baby is viable then trust me u need not worry...
now why is the progestron..>?
the place where the ovum that was fertalized came out turns into something called the corpus luteum and it start secreting progestron to further support the newly fertalized ovum, if this progestron is not enough external progestron is provided..
what u r telling me is normal, infact low peogestron (it is what we call Luteal phase defect ) has not been proven to cause fetal demise after viability of embryo...
so rest assure everything is ok

try not to have her stress so much. I know its hard but let her know that stressing is not a good thing. And if she has any questions she should ask the doctor. Thats what there for.

good luck and congrats to your baby
