A Holocaust is certainly plausible in today's society. The degree to which the media has numbed the minds of most people - with constant news of our corrupt government, the emphasis on entertainment, etc. - these actions could go unnoticed, just as they did 50 years ago.
What I also find startling is that people fail to recognize that the Holocaust killed ELEVEN million people - not just the six million Jews. It was an ethnic cleansing of all different peoples, which as the article mentions, includes homosexuals, blacks, and even the disabled.
That just shows how negligent or perhaps uninformed people are.

Yes, I can. With the policy that the president is using today, example: being in a war although both the house and congress majority are against, I am afraid that a Holocaust could be well on its way before the nation ever knew what was going on. I believe that is well past time for someone to step on Bush's head and put a stop to the things he does, just because he wants to do them.

The funny thing is that troops are being sacrificed in Iraq when our open and inviting borders are now responsible for 1200 terrorists GROUPS in over 40 STATES. They are hanging in the backwoods and have artillary-and the CIA/FBI know about this. With the Internet they could unite at any time and by the irrational lead of pres of Iran could be anytime. Why doesn't the media have a clue about this or rather who is running them?

As for the Holocaust in WW2, it's a natural human event. Read the book "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Dr. Jared Diamond that explains all this.

Look how many other genocides have occured in other places way after Allied troops freed the death camps. Humans have been mass slaughtering/liquidating each other since the early dawn of warfare. It's in their human/animal nature.

A holocaust can happen in any country in the world at any time that the conditions are right for it - like it was in Germany during WWII.
The jews do not have a monopoly on holocausts!

It can happen. All you need is enough fear, and twisted ideology against a group of people. You need a belief structure so ingrained in the hearts and minds of the people that they see no wrong or begin to put a value system on the rights of living.

No way could it happen today. You can't even get judges in Vermont to lock up child molestors, much less an organized governmental effort to kill people.
It took forever just to execute Tookie Williams for goodness sake.

I don't think the world would let it happen. Although I may be wrong, anything can happen. Let's just pray that another one doesn't happen. That would be awful. Let's not speak of this again :-)

In our world, people seem to be expendable, unless something tragic is portrayed on the media. I wouldn't be surprised, anything is possible.
