A young woman with sever vaginal bleeding, is admitted to the emergency room. She is three months pregnant, and the physician is concerned about the volume of blood she is losing. (a) What type of transfusion will probably be given to this patient? (b) What blood tests will be performed before starting the transfusion?

A blood transfusion? Test to see what blood type you are.

They would probably give her packed red blood cells, or whole blood.
They would do a Type and Cross match on her blood to find out her blood type, so they can give her the correct blood.

hgb, hct, bmp, hcg qualitative and type and cross match for packed cells and or platelets.
