Prune juice!!!

2007-01-25 02:53:42 · answer #1 · answered by essentiallysolo 7 · 4 0

Start your day with a large glass of water. You can also add prune juice to it. Then take some Applesauce or fresh apples and add some Fiber to your diet. You've gotta re-train your system. Starting with water and then apples and then something a bit heavier gives your digestive system a chance to do a little at a time throughout the day instead of getting loaded up with heavy proteins at breakfast. If you're constipated and you are eating 3 meals a day, you ought to be having 3 BMs a day as well. That's something to look forward to, isn't it now ? We never know how lucky we are just to have a good dump, right?
Seriously, adding more water and fibre and a stool softener each day will work wonders for you once you get your body retrained.

For a maintenance level of constipation control, try 4oz of carrot juice in the morning, and 4 oz carrot juice afternoon/evening. It will help get things moving in the colon. Not only will it help you be regular, but it's full of carotene which can be converted to vitamin A. Raw carrots also have this effect, but carrot juice might be more bioavailable for nutrients and still has a "regularity" effect. Cooked carrots cause the opposite effect: constipation.

Have a small bowl of shredded wheat in the morning also.

Drink more water. It will help move the contents out of the bowels. It's harder for the body to do that without enough water.

Be careful of the licorice advice. Licorice can lower potassium levels. This can affect organs like the heart if taken incorrectly or for too long.

Take some flowers of sulpha, about two teaspoons full and mix to a thick paste with golden syrup, scrape it out of the mixing vessel and stuff into your gobbo. In a few hours stand by for blasting, The smell is something to be endured but it works every time. As young children we had a dose most Friday nights. Drink gallons of water, eat plenty of dietary fibre, and exercise (just walking to and from work, school, or whatever, will help enormously)...

Avoid stodgy foods, though, especially when combined with refined sugars.

You could also gently massage your tummy, in a clockwise direction, several times a day, to get things moving.

Good luck...:)
