Noah was the son of Lamech. According to Hebrew naming tradition, he would have been known as Noah Bar-Lamech. "Bar" means "son of" in the same way as "ap" in Welsh, "Mac" in Scottish and "0'" in Irish.

For a female "bat" was used instead.

Depending on the size of the local population, he might not have needed one. If he was known by any other name besides Noah before he started building the Ark, it probably would have been based on his geographical point of origin, his occupation, some unusual personal characteristic, or his kin.

Noah lived before surnames were in use, but if he'd had one, it would have been Ben Lamech (son of Lamech), according to ancient Jewish surname tradition.
