1. Get some pet cats. 2 Get some rat poison 3 Get a mouse trap(s) or mouse trap station 4 Call pest control Lastly dont give the mice or rats a reason to be there. Make sure all foods and waste are properly rid of. Seal off all cracks crevices and places mice might want to live in.

well you say you have 3 cats, do you feed the cat´s in the garage, if so then make sure you remove there food dishes when they have finished as mice will help themselves to the left over´s it´s not easy finding out where they are nesting but if you put a little flour around where you think they might be coming from you will see there little foot prints, you can´t put poison down because the cat´s might eat it. you could buy a couple off mice trap´s use peanut butter , or chorizo sausage , that´s there favorite . then get some month balls & peppermint oil, and leave that around, they hate the smell of these 2 things, hope this help´s a little. the little devils are so clever, you just have to be 1 step ahead of them, good luck

Getting rid of existing ones is easy. You must find out how they are getting in and block the entrance with something they cannot chew through. Block of stout wood, wire mess.
Then you are stuck with the delightful task of trapping the mice that are in your garage/room. They can hide practically anywhere - even inside the washer. Also can chew wires causing extensive damage to your equipment.
Don't use poison. Poinsons for rodents work v. well; however, when it dies, you have no idea where it is. It will smell v.v.v. badly - nauseating.
Get little traps, there are various kinds on the market, such as, sticky traps, regular mouse trap.
Be brave, be patient. You will succeed.

eliminate any food source. check under your sink and other areas for any holes. if its an odd shape steel wool will stop it up. they have hav- a-hart traps which catch them so u can take them down the street to the woods somewhere instead of killing them. u set one when u go to bed & check immediately the next morning. make sure theyre closed when not in use.
usually strong scents such as cayenne pepper, moth balls, or peppermint extract will work because they hate the smell. a new product called fresh cab works too and it's all-natural and smells good to humans. see links below.
if u look where a past person asked the same question & i answered-- the scents are working for him.
traps are inhumane. especially the glue ones.

Yes a cat would work...you could also try mouse traps/poison. As long as you don't have kids you couldlay them around your garage/laundry area. If that doesn't work the i would suggest calling a pest control comapy to exterminate them.

If your cats don't do their work, contemplate poisonous granules designed specifically for rats. You place them at different locations in your garage/laundry room.
