A friend of mine makes her 13 yo daughter wear a bodysuit, that undergarment that covers all your torso, back and breasts and clips at your crotch. The girls hates that thing, says it's uncomfortable, makes her sweat and none of her friends wear tone. But my friend, her mom, says it's for her best, thinks it's good for her body and especially for modesty. She says if most moms were like her, there wouldnt be so many cases of teen pregnancy. She doesnt back off, her girl tried to rebel but got grounded and had to give in. I dont agree w/ my friend though I know shes sure its for her girl best. I'd like to know if this is child abuse. I don't think it is, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I don't think it'd be a good idea for the girl to report her mom and I dont think she would, she loves her mom, but Id like to know if this is illegal. My friend says the proof bodysuits are good is they are made by companies to make money selling them, so they can't be that bad to wear. She wears one.

She is being zelous, not abusive. Is she by chance religous too? The girls will have to endure their strict mom for now, when they move out they can chose what to wear. If the mom thinks this bodysuit is going to stop her daughters from having sex she is wrong. For a boy that is just one more obstacle and probably MORE attractive to the guys who see nothing but girls' flesh all the time. It is a challenge, which most guys like. The mom is just trying to do what's best for her girls.

No this isn't abuse! But.....Your friends mom is crazy....cuz if that bodysuit is preventing teen pregnancy then every girl would ware one instead of taking bith control they would ware a bodysuit! I think this mother can't trust her daughter and hasn't educated her about sex and when your good and ready use protection.....not try to live in fanitcy land and ware a modesty bodysuit! Then this child is goin to get the wrong impression about sex that it's a bad thing....it's great when your mature enough to handle the responibilities that comes with sex!!!

This mother needs to talk to someone!!!

Wow, that's a tough one. Almost sounds like a joke. I have never heard anything like it.I would not tell the girl to disobey her mother. What I would do is try to talk to your friend and tell her that you do not agree with it. Tell her that if she trusts her daughter, she should have no problem to let her out of the bodysuit. Give her some advice on what she can do to protect her daughter- like monitor her internet usage, know where she is going at all times and whom she is with, not let her date, etc. There are better ways she can look out for her daughter that are up-with-the-times. As for the issue of abuse, I think it is borderline mentally abusive, but do not think it is technically abuse. Very Strange. That Poor Little Girl.

Child abuse, no. But your friend is misguided. Unless there is a lock and key on the thing, it won't prevent pregnancy. As for modesty, a good bra and panties cover just as well as a full body corset. Finally, the girls will resent this and be more resentful of their mother, and trust her position in other areas less because of this nonsense.
The girls should ask the peditrician if this is good for them...it might not be abuse, but a young girl should not have a growing body bound in one of those things. That's for when they're our age, wanting to fit into last year's party dress, lol.

its not abuse, but its kinda controlling. I can understand that the mother wants her daughter to be like, healthy or whatever reason she makes her wear that, but there are better ways to go about things like that.

There is nothing illegal or abusive about it, but I think you should sit down with the girl and her mom and kindof mentor between the two, help the girl really explain to her mom that she doesnt want to wear that bodysuit anymore.

thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard that lady needs to get a grip. Her daughter can be modest without having to wear some 1800's body suit. Its not child abuse but she will only push her daughter away by being so strict, and make her daughter more curious about this forbidden reason she should wear this stupid thing. My daugter's are 6 and 4 months i would never make them wear something stupid like that but i do not let my six year old dress beyond her age either. No short skirts or tank tops.

Companies make money selling cigarettes, too, but that doesn't make them good for you.

Mom is in the "overkill" zone, but "abuse" probably wouldn't hold up in court (unless she also ties her daughter's arms to the bedposts at night). If Mom is just trying to guarantee that Missy isn't going to get pregnant, a chastity belt would be much less noticeable and less intrusive and be just as effective. I'm sure someone makes those still.

Someone needs to explain to Mom that while she's protecting her daughter's virtue, she's not teaching her how to deal with her sexuality and is trashing her social development. I wonder what happened to Mom in her youth to make her so obsessed?

that might be the craziest thing i've ever heard of.

who's to say that as soon as she gets out the door she goes and hides somewhere and takes the bodysuit off, it's not a chastity belt.
