Hairspray works in a pinch but try to keep a dryer sheet in your desk so you can rub it on yourself when this occurs.

rub a metal coat hanger up and down the static area....or get some static guard spray

carry dryer sheets in your pocket and when you get static you can rub them on your clothes and this will take care of it.....I am serious

If you have or can find someone with hairspray...that usually works.
