The question says the original Tainted Love ...which was not by Soft Cell. Theirs was a cover version and is probably the one that most people remember for obvious reasons. As previous noted in other answers Tainted Love was composed by Ed Cobb and ORIGINALLY recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964.
