At my appt. last week, I was informed that a CPC had been discovered on my baby's brain. An appt. was set up with a specialist to have a level two ultrasound. After suffering a week of pure hell, that appt. was yesterday and THANK GOD, everything looked great:) Of course, as with any other pregnancy, he couldn't tell me for certian without the amnio, but he did not recommend I have one, he said I should take the good looking ultrasound, drop the issue, and stop worring:) I know what these things are after much research and what they mean, but has anyone else experienced this or had a loved one experience it? It is truly terrifying, I feel so blessed to have been able to meet with a specialist and be reassured. Thanks for your answers.

The same thing happened with me during my pregnancy with my last son. I was 20 weeks when they found the choroid plexus cysts in his head. I cried so hard during the level 2 ultrasound. They had me meet with a specialist as well and he reassured me that there was like a less than 1 percent that something could be wrong with the baby. After talking with him I felt so much better and luckily I had an older son I needed to take care of and focus on. I tried not thinking about it too much during my pregnancy because I didn't want to stress out about it but it was hard. Luckily during my follow up appointment the cysts were virtually non existent. They were there but so much smaller.
My son was born in October 2005...Happy and healthy. So healthy in fact, we were discharged a day early from the hospital!

Just to let you know, one of the things the specialist told me that made me feel better was...They have found grown adults with choroid plexus cysts who had no medical problems during their lifetime.

Good luck to you and I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Feel free to email me when you get stressed. Trust me, I know what you are going through!

Yes. I have a friend of my sisters that was diagnosed with the exact same thing on her son. She went through many ultrasounds, but didn't have the amnio either. The doctors told her that her baby would be born severly brain damaged and would never function as a normal child. He'd basically be confined to a bed or wheelchair for his life.

They also found a cyst on his kidney. BUT, he was born perfectly healthy. What a little miracle!!

ok..
listen choroid plexsus cyst, can be found in normal babies in uteru , usually if found befor 28 week should rechecked later...
in about 18 % of all normal babies a one sided CPC is found that dissappear later befor delivery.
in cases where bilateral CPC is found another test is done to confirm that the baby has no chromosomal anomalies..
my advice is to listen to ur physician since such a finding can be normal in some babies and will dissapear later..
