You're at a GREAT age to experiment with style. Here are my ideas for some pieces that you can buy and mix and match:

Colorful cardigans (soft sweater material, 3/4 sleeves)
Nice, straight-fitting trousers in several shades like khaki, black, brown or winter white.
Jeans: go for a straight fit, mid to high waist. A pair of dark denim will look dressier, while light washes look great casual.
Button-up shirts in several colors ( a crisp white is ALWAYS classy)
Jewelry: accessories with chunky, beaded necklaces and bracelets. No matter your age, these instantly "upgrade" your outfit.

Here are some very helpful websites! Have fun--

I agree with the suggestion of Marks and Spencer. Both me and my Mum shop there and can get styles we are both happy with. Their clothes are reasonably priced - perhaps a little more expensive that some high street shops but then they dont fall apart in the wash. I see a catalogue advertised on TV called 'Fifty Plus'. They look to have some nice classy looking clothes.

There are lots of jeans out there that will make you look classy. They are the most popular pants for every age. And there are loads of pretty shirts to go with them, in a variety of colors. Add a pair of socks that match the shirt- they don't have to be a solid color, and an "in" pair of comfortable shoes. And keep your hair in an easy-to-do style with a basic haircut to start with. You'll have it goin' on!

There's a store called Chico's that serves 40+ women. But it's a mall store so it may be expensive. They may have a sale or clearance section. Also, try mid-level department stores such as Penney's or Sears. They often have clearance sales and you can get their clothes at a bargain.

P.S., these are all American stores, not sure if you're in the U.S. or elsewhere.

I always think the 'older' person looks nice in plain-ish clothes but with some nice accessories, ie. scarf (not a woolly one wrapped round your neck), but maybe a silky one with a scarf ring just for show. And maybe some nice beads, a handbag and shoes to match.

Layers always look great aswell. I see so many 'older' people with cheap looking trousers, a thick jumper and a crappy coat on, they could look much nicer.

There's a magazine called More for women 40+. It includes a fashion section.

You could get a subscription and see what's hot each season and where to buy the the latest styles or find substitutes based on what you find there at less expensive stores. Or just follow the few articles that they post to the website there.

hi, If any lady can carry her outfits properly .Then its ought to no longer make a huge difference - to illustrate - if a woman is too tall and abnormally skinny then she will be in a position to no longer seem good in a sari-she will be in a position to seem skinny like a stick as a sari desires to be draped round her.yet when she wears some gown with large prints or designs on the fabric and somewhat short she will be in a position to seem better. Dressing sense completely relies upon on the upbringing, prestige top ,personality and looks, recent trend, convenience, celebration, many different such issues, how properly she seem in that particular gown she is wearing etc. i in my view sense lady ought to positioned on a gown that matches as in accordance to the above stated factors. Now your second factor - Its relies upon on who's wearing and what -Eg take myself i used be slender formerly and used to ware all kinds of outfits. yet now I have positioned on some weight i do no longer seem good in some outfits-Like a jeans and ti-blouse i look very unusual-some one which has seen me formerly in jeans, famous i look low-priced.so as that does no longer propose i'm undesirable its only that the gown does no longer suite me.both i ought to end wearing jeans or slender no different selection for me. no longer some thing incorrect in marring a woman who wares present day outfits- what's substantial that she must be of a good nature, you should both have a good information between your self and maximum substantial your household prestige and individuals must be able to regulate jointly with her gown sense. Or as in accordance on your household upbringing if its a customary one then marry a woman with good nature, you should both have a good information between your self -and who outfits decently yet uncomplicated. what's fairly substantial is the nature of the girl and how your household treats her.
