I help to operate a food pantry, and you'd be surprised how many working people only make enough money to pay reant or buy groceries, but not both.

Yeah, I think it sucks. You'd have a hard time convincing a lot of conservatives, but you could get a lot of people off of welfare or other assistance programs if the minimum wage were a bit higher. As it is, once someone gets on welfare, it's hard to properly convince them to get a job when the jobs they are qualified for pay less than doing nothing.

Right now corporations get incredible tax breaks just because their paid-for candidates are in office. If they paid their low-level employees more, they'd be eligible for even more tax breaks, and then those low-level employees would add more to the tax breaks, and stimulate the economy because they'd have more spending power.

My brother lives in poverty while I live in prosperity, but we both make the exact same amount of money per year. Care to guess how that happens?

I don't smoke a carton of cigarettes a week
I don't drink a 12 pack per night
I don't get a new tattoo every month
I didn't buy a $40,000 SECOND car
I don't have a unusually large gun collection
I don't smoke 4 joints per day
I don't have 3 season tickets to the local NFL games
I don't have an annual jewelry expense
I don't buy a new wardrobe every 3 months
I don't eat fast food 10-15 times a week

My brother does all of these things and more. He is practically homeless. It's sad. And he is not alone.

How many cars, TVs, video games, gold chains, cell phones do these poor people own? You only get paid what you are worth to the company, nothing more. Get a damn education and make yourself more valuable and an asset to the company instead of a drain on society. Are these the same people that sell their LINK card outside the store for pennies on the dollar, and sell the food they get from the local pantry to buy cigarettes?

You can blame the Republicans for this!

They have actually refused to increase the minnimun wage law over the last twelve years that they have had control of Congress!

They get richer by making hard working Americans poorer!!!!!
