I love LOVE the idea of leaving the room green and doing a fairie theme!! I (quietly, since all three of my kids LOVE him) despise Winnie the Pooh...seriously TOO overdone, Agree also with the posters that nixed the pink themes...I had a pink room growing up...and HATED it. For a nursery not so bad...baby's not really going to care what's there for the first little bit as long as a cozy crib is there.
Actually I can not only picture the fairie theme in the room but I can actually see in my minds eye on one wall simply stated "I believe..."
We have wall decals around here with different sayings (some have psalms, some motivational, etc.) and I think it would simply state the obvious and pull the room together. This would also do double duty...because it doesn't state WHAT you believe...could be interpreted to mean the fairies OR "I believe.." in you (meaning the babe that will be snuggled cozy in there)
All this having been said...one other suggestion that I could make is still go with the jungle theme (girls AND boys love animals) but leave some room between animals, trees, etc. and if down the road of pregnancy you learn that your wee bundle is a girl...add fairies here and there in the spaces left open. (The "I believe..." decal could still be used in there, because of the wording that could mean just about anything.)

Well I dont know your budget but Pottery Barn Kids & Land of Nod (crate & barrels kids co.) have a ton of mossy green crib sets w/ pink it would be so adorable. I hate when you walk into a little girls room and you just see pink, ewww. Plus by not repainting you are not exposing you & baby t any new paint fumes. Another cute idea would be a Noahs ark, animal theme & that could be a ether or nursery. Good Luck here are a few links!!

I really like the idea of the sage green wall with the p/g gingham curtain/bedding, fairies, etc. It's different, not just the same old pink on pink or pink on white. You could also put white blinds with a lgt. sage valance. Above the window, intertwine a swag of flowers (with coordinating colors, lt.sage,lt. pinks, dainty looking flowers) around the curtain pole. On coordinating wall across from baby bed, paint a lg. fairy, and all other coordinating walls, in a lighter green, or black, or pink, write inspirtational sayings, with maybe mini. fairies on each side as if looking at the saying, just floating in the air. Just a thought I have 2 daughters and I could go just nuts with ideas. Good luck, hope it helps to give some ideas! Also, coordinate the bedding, sage sheets with white skirting around baby bed.

I have never been a fan of a themed nursery. I am 38 weeks pregnant with a girl and just recently did the nursey because I had such a hard time finding a pattern I liked. Finally, I caved and went to Pottery Barn Kids and found some GREAT patterns! You won't be sorry. They are beautiful quilts that are too "babyish" if you know what I mean.

Me, I did Care Bears for my daughter and plan on doing butterflies if I have another girl. My friend used Hello Kitty for her daughter and my sister did Baby Looney Tunes. Another suggestion would be flowers. Pink and brown make a good color combination surprisingly enough (to me at least) and I've seen a lot of products for baby with this color scheme. I'm not a big fan of polka dots really so I, personally, wouldn't use that. But it's your baby so do whatever you like. Ducks is one I consider non gender specific. Bears would be cute but I think most people associate it more with boys than girls. I know that both my sister and I would definitely go for unicorns if we could find things with them on it. Another theme for girls would Dora the Explorer. Hope I helped and gave you some great ideas!

I think that you should keep the room sage green and go with the faerie theme! I am a FAERIE FANATIC!!!! I love faeries! It would also be something unique. The common gurlie room decoration is Precious Moments.. Butterflies..Pooh Bear and Friends...ETC... I could go on forever!! But keeping the base color Sage Green... you could do alot of different things with it being for a boy or girl. Just do what you would think that would make you happy. Good Luck....

I really love your own idea - with the faeries. I think going for a forest theme would let you leave the room green and you could still do the thing with the tree but have faeries instead of animals?

Waverly is a fabric brand that has some SUPER cute girl's fabric that is pink and green with ladybugs. You could have someone make the bedding for you. Thats what I did with my daughter's room. I went to a fabric store picked out several coordinating fabrics and made her bed set and curtains! It turned out SO cute!
