The worst thing that can happen today is nothing as life is great and everything we do has a reason.
If I was to say the really worst thing would be that I wasted the day answering questions like yours but in the end that too has a purpose and so it is good.

It's 8:30am here in AZ. I'm about to hop into my car to start my daily routine. I really don't like to think negative thoughts when starting out with a new day. When you think negative it affects your work, and attitude. Which in turn brings negative action. So I think the worse thing that could happen to me today is to go a long with you and think negative. I'm going to work against this before I pull out of my drive way.

Well, someone here in the office could swipe my bologna and cheese sandwich that I worked like a dog to prepare this morning for my lunch. That would totally s@ck and cause me to go next door to Subway....WAITTTTT a second, I love Subway. OK, changing my answer. The worst that could happen is for my bologna and cheese sandwich to be in the fridge here at work when I go back there at lunch.

I could be in a car wreck while going to get my kids from school they would get stuck at school. Then come home only to find that my power and phone had been shut off. While walking through the dark house step in something yukky (dog mess) Then hubbie comes home from work to tell me they lost his paycheck. What a day!!1

If one of my family members got hurt, that would be the worst thing that could happen to me today or anyday.

The worst thing would be getting into a car accident while taking my son to school.. That would just suck, and I'd freak out.. and not to mention I wouldn't be able to go to Starbucks. It would just throw me off..
