Well I'd rather a child be in the responsible hands of two loving people. There are so many druggie layabouts with children and anybody would be a better parent than them. Many gay people have women friends or family that a child can go to if they need girly chats. I know straight people who are promiscuous and palm their kids off to the parents all the time so they can go out drinking all the time. One girl I know doesn't see her child from on day to the next, she'd rather have a social life. There are so many needy kids in the world and if someone is selfless enough to take care of them, then it's fine. Plus alot of kids these days come from broken homes, often with a single mum or dad, so they are not getting the benefit of a male and female in their life either. Gay people don't have so much of a stigma attached to them these days, the world is moving on. People who say the child will get tormented is just making the stigma stay for good.

Mixed--raised in a family with mom and dad as has been forever is great and solid--I'm not so sure that gay adoption would have later affects as two of the same parents would generate some different ideas as to relationships for the child as opposed to a per say regular upbringing that has it's problems and lasting effects too.

It isn't the natural order of things but nowadays who's to say what's normal. I do think that children need both male and female role models to make them balanced children. However there are single mums and dads who do ok so why can't a gay couple. I think traditional couples (male & female) with all things being equal (jobs, education, history, mental stability or whatever adoption agencies look at) should have priority over gay couples as they will offer a more rounded family life with both male and female role models.

It should be the last resort in the interest of the child some Gay couples might be good parents but i think the best option is a mum and dad. And i don't agree with this government forcing religious adoption agencies to go against there beliefs its a intolerant move which is interesting coming from liberals who always go on about rights.

Although I dont like the idea, I have met a few gay adopters and they give these kids a great start in a loving home environment. Much better than some "hetro" couples. At least the kids are getting adopted in the US.

I have no issue with it, as long as they pass all the necessary tests, I dont see why they should not be able to adopt just like heterosexual couples. Surely children are better in a loving home, than left in state care without the love and nurture that parents can give.
Children are far more tolerant of each other than adults give them credit for. They have no intolerance until someone teaches them, so its not the kids that are cruel its the adults that have taught them the prejudice.

I think they should be allowed to adopt. Look at these celebrities who go to Africa and come back with a child, why should gay couples not be allowed? I'm sure they could be just as good parents as straight couples. And I don't believe a child needs a mum and a dad. My mum brought me up by herself and I never needed a father and then she married my stepfather who I've hated for 16 years now. So it's better to have 2 good mums or 2 great dads than to have 1 step parent whom you hate.

Not sure on this one. The right on freedom loving side is all 'why not? as long as its good for the kids', while the worried side is saying ' its gonna mess with those kids heads a bit'.
on the whole it cant be a bad thing can it? is it? what? who put that there?

I think it's ok as long as the child/children are being taken care of properly.
