That's awesome stuff there Turkey, I never knew that!
Like Turkey said, it reminded me of the ending of the original movie, the only other time Rocky lost the big fight at the end. It wasn't about Rocky winning though, it was about Rocky fighting and having one last chance and it happened and that was really what mattered most.

When the fight was filmed in Las vegas, there were four alternative endings so that no one knew who won the fight until the film was released. The endings included a draw, a victory by Rocky, and Rocky dying in the ring, which is where all of the rumors about that got started. After seeing the movie, I believe that they left it open for another fight, much like Rocky, which had an almost identical ending.
