Especially when The Economist Magazine, the UN, and (in case those sources are reliable enough for all you dittoheads out there) NBC all disagree!)

Is it an inferiority complex, a neurochemical imbalance, or just plain redneck 'put a boot in yore ***' ignorance?
And before you answer, ask yourself, what would Hitler say?

Q. Would he say, "Love it or Leave it"?
A. Probably.

Everyone will defend their own country and think that it is the best. Aren't you proud of your country?Who cares what Hitler would say he wasn't from the US last I heard so his opinion would not matter to anyone here.

So name a better one. Who has the same privileges as America, but isn't America?
Which country allows everyone to express their own opinion and doesn't throw you in jail (at best) or kill you (at worst) for it? Which country allows you to live your life the way you see fit and doesn't care as long as it gets it's tax money?
Which country will send it's military to help those too young or too small to help themselves even if it means a sizable minority back home is making a lot of noise on the world stage saying it's wrong to do so?
Name one. Go ahead... I'll wait.

It's certainly not an inferiority complex, or JUST being a redneck that brings about my answer. And as for a neurochemical imbalance, I don't know. But if it is, I thank God for it and only ask Him this - PLEASE don't take my neurochemical imbalance away!

UPDATE: On the off chance that Benny was talking to me:
I'm all for improving America. And yes, I am kind of curious as to which country these magazines and counsels would choose as #1. And no, I don't HAVE to live in the #1 country in the world. And you're right, America was built to help and protect the minorities of the world. And Yes I am a conservative person. You make many valid points. I can even see where SOME would see certain things that Bush has done and see a Hitleresque quality in them. The nice thing is that our President can only serve two terms, and he's on his second now and he has more to deal with than just the war in Iraq and Afganistan. He has a Democratic Congress. That's the main difference between our country and those we have problems with. America has it's problems no doubt about it. But that doesn't mean I can't take pride in the fact that I feel like I am priviliged enough to live in the greatest country ever. I'm sure if I lived in some western European nation, I would feel the same. And if I lived almost any where else I'd probably be more concerned about the safety and well being of myself and my family to be concerned about where my country is on some list of the best countries ever.

You don't have to name a replacement to know something isn't. That's Logic 101 stuff.

EX:
Q.Is Bill Clinton the best president the country has ever seen?
A. No.
Q. Well who is the best president this country has ever seen?
A. I'm not sure.
Q. Exactly, it must be Clinton

Also, do you really think that America is all that free?

I don't.

I mean it's better than most but not the most free in the whole wide world!
I'm not even sure I want it to be 'free'. I mean absolute freedom would be chaos. like Mexico or something worse.

on the other hand...

Our drug laws are horrendous and even consentual crimes like prostitution and certain variations of sex are illegal! Between two consenting adults! In private!

That doesn't sound very free.
Weren't 2 Live Crew banned for making a naughty rap album?
not to mention the hundreds of acts of torture, abuse and censorship in our past!

...most people will say, "Well, *I* can do anything *I* want to do." and, true, if you just want to make money and carry on peacefully, sure, you can do that... but who needs civil liberties for just put- putting along doing the usual?

Our civil rights are supposed to protect the minotities, the people whose practices place them OUTSIDE the accepted mainstream. [Why would the powerful mainstream need protection?]

Furthermore, many people think Bush IS a lot like Hitler!
And the idea of the US as another Nazi Germany is frightening to some of us here!

Remember: History may not repeat itself, but it rhymes sometimes!

maybe the lady who spoke earlier doesn't think WWII is important but a LOT of "US" "HERE" still do. So, please, I know your ignorant and arrogent of that ignorance but you don't speak for the whole world. You are not the internet, no matter how many conservatives you rally onto Yahoo Answers!

Also, I've personally read a few places stating that America is NOT the BEST IN THE WORLD ( for a number of things!) it did't make me love living here any less! Does it you?

Maybe we could hear a reasonable opinion of how to imporve if we stopped beating our chests and yelling down anyone who might have an actual solution to one of our many problems..
I dunno...

Also! I have lived in MANY worse countries than the US, but this does not mean that America is THE BEST IN THE WORLD.

Search the internet, do some investigation people!
I did...and...
...apparently, it's true! msNBC, The Economist, and the U freakin N did say we weren't the best!
Are you leaving now?
Does the country you live in HAVE to be THE best in the world to garner your taxes?

... aren't you even *curious* as to why we aren't voted #1???
(I think I already know the answer to that question!)

Educate yourselves, please, for the love of America.
Don't blind yourselves to any fault and thereby cut off any way for us to grow and get better.

I love america enough to want to change it!
Which is a hell of a lot harder than sitting around praising it as the best!

Help make America ridiculous again!

This country of ours is the best in the world! Try living somewhere else and you'll see why pretty quickly!
