Well information is stored on the hard drive, the memory is used as a temporary storage while the CPU is the part that actually uses the information to display it on your monitor.

If you mean input and output devices that would be the keyboard, mouse and microphone as input devices and the monitor and speakers as common output devices.

dont think i got the question rite..

but if u mean when u copy files it is the hard disk ..
if u mean when working on files it is the RAM or main memory..
if u mean on the network .. its in terms of voltage signals on the wire .
