I probably wouldn't do either. They're humans like the rest of us, and we're not exactly in medieval times anymore.

I would, simply because it's a show of respect. It's the same reason why you shake hands when you meet someone new or why you might bow as a response to an Asian person bowing to you. It's respect for the person, their culture, and perhaps their status within their own realm.

Soldiers salute each other... Hawaiians kiss each other on the cheek... many Europeans do the same. Kissing the pope's ring is an expression of respect and endearment.

I don't believe that this contradicts anything in the bible. In fact, the bible encourages respect for local customs and authority as you travel. No one said you're worshipping them by kissing their hand or bowing. It's only a show of respect.

Ladies and Gentlemen still curtsey and bow to one another at the beginning of a dance. Why should royalty receive less show of respect than a dance partner? Just a thought...

I am not from a country that has royalty but like you, I bow down only to God. In my opinion the whole idea of royalty is ridiculous. They put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us.

No because the only being that I'd bow down to would be God. And the only persons hand I would kiss would be a babies.

That is a very good question. Although we are to respect and submit to earthly rulers, I think I may out of respect to God, but I only bow my heart in loyalty to God, and God alone.

I would - it's a sign of respect.

Like what you would show for your parents. You're essentially showing your respect for what they represent - their country. The one above would certainly approve of that.

It is only a sign of respect. Not that you are pledging any allegiance to them. Like hugging your grandma.
