I'm going to Prague in March for a long weekend with my friend. Can you suggest anything that is a must-see or a must-do? Only there for the weekend so we really want to sample the best of the city - any ideas?

- I would really like some recommendations on places we should go and things we can do. We shall be drinking a lot of beer; this goes without saying!

As for the well known tourist stuff, definitely do the castle tour, check out Charles Bridge and old town square. I would recommend walking all the way up the steps inside the big clock, you can take great pictures from there. I would take and evening and go of the beaten track and hang out for a bit in a real Czech (not touristy) pub. You can find some of these around Karlovo Namesti, or near the I.P. Pavlova tram and metro stop. Also, there are a few really czecky ones in Karlin of the Krizikova Metro line. Folks there are pretty friendly and real pub grub is tasty.
Enjoy your trip!

Try a coach tour of the city (there are plenty on offer) - to make sure that you get a taste of all the sights. You must cover Old Town Square (including the old town hall tower for views), Charles Bridge and the Castle, and these are all linked by the Royal Route which takes you through some of the most interesting streets. You will no doubt see other streets that will attract your attention on the way, but there is so much to see that it will take you most of a weekend to cover this.

walk around the tourist part of town (letna park) and have a beer in the open square. it will cost you $ 7 US but it is worth the view. then walk 7 blocks east along the river. there is an bar on the edge of the park where the locals hang out. very small and only $1 a beer. it's a block before the hlavkuv bridge.

The tourist attractions will be crowded, but I would still recommend you see them (St Charles Bridge, the Prague Castle, St. George's Basilica, Golden Lane, etc....). Hang out in old town.

Oh and get a map!

Have fun!
