I remember there being a way to determine when the black flies are bad. I think its has to do with the tides. Does anyone know for certain?

I do not believe there are black flies on Cape Cod - got to go to the back woods of northern New England and Canada to start enjoying those. The biting pests at Wellfleet are the salt marsh mosquitos and beach horse flies.
